We Found The Carousel From The Old Toy Store…

We loved the old carousel that was in the very special store for children in the center of Moscow. Then they destroyed that store for no darn reason. (Except money and greed!)

We found the carousel the other day and Sveta got some good pictures of it. It has come back from the dead and only issue is that the original toy store will never be back…

Sveta Got Her Camera Out…

Sveta took some pictures and I decided to post them. She was walking home after work and caught some images…

A ceramic dog trying to decide are the wooden big birds friend or foe?

A young lady in the Metro, deep in thought with lilacs scent wafting up her nose…

Moscow has churches every where you look…

Three young girls sitting on a roof top discussing…?

Original Photos By Svet: Patriarch Kirill…

Patriarch Kirill is the person with the white covering on his head. (Covering called -Koukoulion) So who is Patriarch Kirill? – Patriarch Kirill I, or Cyril I (Russian: Кирилл, Патриарх Московский и всея Руси), (secular name Vladimir Mikhailovich Gundyayev (Russian: Владимир Михайлович Гундяев); born November 1946) is a Russian Orthodox bishop who has been Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus and Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church since 1 February 2009.

Prior to becoming Patriarch, Kirill was Archbishop (later Metropolitan) of Smolensk and Kaliningrad beginning on 26 December 1984; and also Chairman of the Orthodox Church’s Department for External Church Relations and a permanent member of the Holy Synod beginning in November 1989.

Svetlana was walking to work and the church that you see in the pictures is nearby. She noticed that there was a lot of activity and Svet is “curious like a cat” as we say in America…

Svet got to experience a rare moment and she was able to capture the Patriarch Kirill on film. She also has a short video and when she gets home maybe we can do something with that video.

Svet was so excited that she emailed these pictures from work and I for one am proud to post these fantastic pictures of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church by Svetlana!

A Day of Mourning in Russia!

Svetlana travels this Metro almost everyday of her life and today she captured on film a Moscow in mourning.
One of the little known facts about this Metro bombing was that most of the victims are young adults suffering from massive internal injuries. That is because this was also known as the University line. (At least that is what I call it.) Students are traveling to the Moscow University to attend classes…
The massive internal injuries where caused in part by the fact that the explosives were designed on purpose to have excess shrapnel in them. The plastic explosive was embedded with nails, nuts, bolts and other small metal objects. Then when the explosion goes off it sends hundreds of projectiles in all directions to maximize injuries and death…
The dead and injured include students from around the world also. That information will be brought out later in time.

I Wanna Ride!

Above and Below – I wanna ride!

I love it when I come upon places like this for kids. I was walking to the store to get groceries and took a different way to the store. That is when I came upon this wonderful little amusement area for kids. This is a commercial establishment of course, but I have always loved bright and colorful things!

It makes me wish to be a kid again for just an hour and ride that train…

Moscow Russia Through Svetlana’s Eyes!

Photo Below – This is one of the most common and best ways to buy fruit and veggies in Moscow, Russia!

Photo Below – If you are not interested in fruit then how about some flowers! You can always find fresh cut flowers everywhere in Moscow Russia…

That is it for today. You just saw a little more of Russia – come back and check because we are always posting original pictures of Russia right here on the Russian Photo Blog!
